Experience a truly transformational 3-day fall weekend at the breathtaking Light on the Hill Retreat Center located at 209 Blake Hill Road in Van Etten, NY.
The Theme for this coming Fall Women’s Retreat is "Bringing in the Yin through the Archetypal Energies of The Queen and the Crone."
The Queen archetype is one of the most powerful and transformative feminine archetypes. She represents sovereignty (a person’s right to govern themselves – the ability to make decisions about their own life) , leadership, compassion, and creative authority—a woman fully in her power and aligned with purpose. The Queen, as a ruler over herself, embodies healthy boundaries, discernment, and wise stewardship of her energy, time, and resources. She creates from a sense of divine responsibility.
The Crone or Wise Woman archetype is about being, not doing. Her power comes from deep inner wisdom, not external validation. She is often feared or dismissed in patriarchal cultures because she cannot be controlled, seduced, or ignored—her power is unshakable and not dependent on appearance or productivity. She is the Wise Woman, Seer, Oracle. She walks between worlds and is often the keeper of deep mysteries, healing, and ancestral knowledge.
Want to learn more about the Crone energy? Continue reading in Bani's Blog.
We will be staying at the Light on the Hill Lodge
where there are 18 single rooms. There are also 4 double rooms
if you choose to room with a friend!
The comfortable rooms offer quiet havens for resting and reflecting upon your retreat experiences. They each have a large window overlooking the beautiful grounds.
There are several community indoor and outdoor spaces to
relax and chat with new friends, read a book or journal.
Light on the Hill’s cooks prepare meals in the lodge’s commercial kitchen. Meals at Light on the Hill are gourmet vegetarian with many vegan options. They use organic ingredients wherever possible. The cooks receive high praise about the food that is served.
Light On The Hill cooks are able to accommodate simple dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. However, if a person has a more restrictive diet than this, they suggest that the person bring their own food. Those wanting meat may bring cold cuts and cans of tuna, etc. but no meat is allowed to be cooked on the premises.
I will be leading Yoga classes throughout the weekend and will be offering modifications for people newer to the practice and also extensions for those who are more experienced for a complete mind/body reset at this Women's Retreat March 2025
The term "forest bathing" emerged in Japan in the 1980s as a physiological and psychological exercise called shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing” or “taking in the forest atmosphere”). The purpose is twofold: to offer an eco-antidote to tech-boom burnout and to allow participants to reconnect with the natural design of nature.
We will have opportunities each day to enjoy the beautiful 236 acres of woods, streams, gorges, and walking paths. It offers a panoramic views as distant as Pennsylvania.
Researchers are now amassing a body of evidence, proving what we all know to be true: nature is good for us and has both long and short term mental and physical health benefits.
JourneyDance™ is a transformational dance form that combines freestyle and structured movement to inspire you to get out of your mind and into your body.
The JourneyDance™ Transformational Dance Movement Flow leads participants on a ritual journey of physical and emotional transformation .
There is no previous dance experience necessary!
Circle Work is a nurturing and spacious practice that honors the feminine spirit. Women sit in a circle and hold sacred space to listen deeply, both to their own hearts and souls and to one another. These circles create ripples of healing and transformation and foster inner and outer peace.
You will experience a transformation through all of our rejuvenating practices, Mindful Yoga, Meditation, Gatherings, along with free time for reflection, connection with nature, Journeydance and more.
